Welcome to this article about the voice of McDonald’s adverts in the UK.

McDonald’s commercials are often memorable and immediately recognisable. But who is the voice behind them?

In this article, we explore who voices McDonald’s UK adverts — including the long-serving star who held the role for years, and the actor who has now taken over.

The Current Voice: Stephen Graham

Stephen Graham is the current voice of McDonald’s UK adverts. He took over the role in April 2026, with his first voiceovers — for the McCrispy, Big Arch, and Breakfast Done Properly campaigns — going live on 28 April 2026 across TV and radio.

Graham is one of Britain’s most acclaimed actors, best known for his roles in This Is England, Adolescence, Line of Duty, and The Irishman. McDonald’s described him as “one of the UK’s most recognisable and distinctive voices,” noting that his appointment is intended to strengthen the brand’s connection with younger audiences while maintaining broad, cross-generational appeal.

Hannah Pain, Marketing and Menu Director at McDonald’s UK & Ireland, said the company hoped Graham’s voice would help McDonald’s “connect with audiences in a way that feels honest, contemporary and familiar.”

The Former Voice: Dexter Fletcher

For many years before Graham, the distinctive voice behind McDonald’s UK adverts belonged to Dexter Fletcher. McDonald’s thanked him warmly on his departure, calling his voice “a defining part of the organisation’s advertising.”

Fletcher is as well known for his work behind the camera as in front of it. He directed Eddie the Eagle (2016), Rocketman (2019), and completed Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) after the original director departed. As an actor, he is recognised for his roles in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Layer Cake, and Band of Brothers, among many others.

Dexter Fletcher’s Acting and Directing Credits

Fletcher has had an impressive and varied career spanning several decades. On screen, he has appeared in The Bill, Minder, Band of Brothers, Sherlock, Hotel Babylon, and Layer Cake, as well as stage productions including Macbeth and The Elephant Man.

As a director, his work on Eddie the Eagle and Rocketman earned him significant critical recognition. Rocketman, the biographical musical about Elton John, was particularly praised for its creative ambition.

Fletcher has been nominated for BAFTA awards across both his acting and directing work, and his voice became a genuinely iconic part of British advertising during his long tenure with McDonald’s.

In summary, the voice of McDonald’s UK adverts is currently actor Stephen Graham, who took over from the long-serving Dexter Fletcher in April 2026. Graham’s warm, distinctive tones are now the sound audiences will associate with the brand across TV, radio, and online advertising.
