Who is in the new Aldi advert?
This article takes a look at the people — and characters — featured in Aldi’s UK adverts. We’ll explore the cast, their backgrounds, and the message behind the commercials.
The Aldi brand has long been associated with providing quality products at an affordable price. Their advertising campaigns are no different, often featuring recognisable British talent and much-loved animated characters to bring that message to life.
So who are the people featured in recent Aldi ads? Let’s take a look at the cast and discover the story behind some of Aldi’s most notable adverts.
Stephen Graham and Vicky McClure
One of Aldi’s more memorable non-Christmas campaigns featured two of Britain’s best-loved actors: Stephen Graham and Vicky McClure.
Stephen Graham is an English actor best known for his roles in Line of Duty, This Is England, and Gangs of London. Vicky McClure is an English actress best known for her roles in This Is England, Line of Duty, and Peaky Blinders. The pair’s on-screen chemistry — familiar to millions from their time as AC-12 colleagues — translated well to the supermarket setting.
The advert was part of Aldi’s Super 6 campaign, which offers six fresh fruit and vegetables at reduced prices, encouraging shoppers to take advantage of seasonal deals. The ad carried Aldi’s “Good Different” positioning and was promoted across television and Aldi’s social media channels.
Meet Kevin the Carrot — The Iconic Christmas Character
Kevin the Carrot is Aldi UK’s most iconic advertising character and has appeared in the supermarket’s Christmas campaigns every year since 2016. He is an anthropomorphic carrot voiced by Clive Davis (one of his creators), with the adverts narrated by English actor Jim Broadbent.
Kevin’s adventures have ranged from facing off against villains like Pascal the Parsnip to helping Santa Claus in his workshop. He is loved by children and adults alike, and his popularity has seen Kevin and supporting characters appear in best-selling in-store soft toy ranges each festive season.
The 2025 Christmas campaign — Kevin and Katie get married
For Christmas 2025, Aldi marked Kevin’s 10th anniversary with its most ambitious campaign yet: a three-part episodic story developed with agency McCann Manchester.
Inspired by the classic rom-com Love Actually, the teaser showed Kevin standing outside his partner Katie the Carrot’s door — accompanied by their cauliflower dog carrying a ring — proposing via cue cards. After a chaotic stag do (Kevin was found strapped to the North Pole in a mankini), the saga concluded on 27 November 2025 with Kevin and Katie’s wedding. Full details of the campaign are available on the Aldi UK Press Centre.
The Kevin the Carrot adverts have become a genuine festive tradition for many families, and with a decade of stories behind him, Kevin shows no sign of hanging up his green stalk.
About Aldi’s advertising approach
Aldi’s UK advertising has consistently punched above its weight, regularly appearing in end-of-year “best ads” lists. The brand tends to use British talent and character-led storytelling rather than celebrity endorsements, keeping campaigns relatable and rooted in the value-for-money message that defines the Aldi brand.
Aldi has been named the UK’s cheapest supermarket by consumer champion Which? for several consecutive years — a claim their advertising is never shy about making.
